California Coast

We also visited the coast while in northern California.  Here are some of the animals we saw and beach shots we took.

Very rocky shoreline in northern California.

It was interesting to see how fog would flow around the shore.

A pelican going in for a fish.

Sea lions sunning on an old pier.

A whale surfacing about 200 yards of shore.
California Redwoods

We spent a week in northern California hiking and driving through the national and state redwood forests there.  These are such large trees it is hard to capture them in pictures.

From the base of a single redwood to its canopy.

Even the bark on these trees is huge.

Tree grove.

Tree canopy views.

These trees are so large when they fall across trails it is easier to cut paths through them.

This tree arch is a living tree bent over by another tree and then several limbs began growing as trees.

When driving on access roads to get to hiking areas they tell you the road is often a single lane but they don't say how big the lane isn't.  In the second shot you can really see how dry it has been in California the past couple of years.  All the white you see is dust build up from road dust.

We took a trip to the Oregon coast to visit the Wildlife Safari.  This is a walk through safari park that allows visitors to feed and pet some of the animals in the park.  This was a unique experience.  Below are several of the animals we saw and were able to pet.

While traveling through Oregon we saw a tiny house at one of the RV parks we stayed at.  These are trailers someone has built a tiny house on versus a camper.  As fans of a show called Tiny House Nation we found it interesting to actually see someone with a tiny house on the road.

Visited the Enchanted Forest in Oregon where the witches are not nice.

While visiting several of Oregon's parks we were able to catch some of the wildlife on camera.

Prior to leaving Washington state we visited Tree house point.  This is a bed and breakfast run by Pete Nelson from the TV series Treehouse Masters (we are big fans).  There are six treehouses you can stay in to experience being in the trees.  We were not able to get a reservation to stay in one of the treehouses in the time period we had but we were able to take a tour.  "TO THE TREES!" as Pete says.
